Currently under mechanical and cosmetic restoration with an estimated completion date of late June.
Grand Wagoneer by Classic Gentleman, leading buyer, restorer and seller of low mile, excellent condition Grand Wagoneers always has a prime selection of vintage Grands undergoing restoration works. Many of these pieces, especially the Spinnaker Blue Metallic ones, are reserved before works are completed and never make it into our available inventory. This special Grand has been updated with a newly done, commercially re-manufactured original spec 360ci engine along with modern fuel injection.
The newly re-manufactured engine is the factory correct original style 360ci V8 motor. The professional re-manufacturing process is comprehensive and includes a complete dismantle of the motor with new…… valves, main bearings, oil pump, pistons, rod bearings, lifters, timing chain, seals and gaskets. A new heavy duty radiator has also been fitted. We didn’t stop there but replaced the original carburetor set up with modern fuel injection to make this vintage Grand as up to date as possible. The transmission has likewise been serviced and “shift on the fly” 4 wheel drive is ready for any environment.
This ’88 Grand was born from the factory as an original Spinnaker Blue Metallic Wagoneer….Special ordered that way by her first owners who knew a timeless color when they saw one. This is one of only a few original factory Spinnaker Grands made and for us, one of just a couple original Spinnakers we have ever had. The tan interior mixes well with the Spinnaker wrapper, that, along with the exterior wood treatment, tie it all together in timeless fashion.
Carfax confirms both the low 106,xxx miles ticking up slowly over the years, (that averages just a tad over 3,000 miles per year), with the first half of her miles in sunny Florida and all the rest from Washington State. Neither of those states ever use road salt in the winter and down to that, a strong frame and undercarriage is the foundation of the Wagoneer. Carfax also confirms no accidents ever being reported against our ’88.
Some highlights of our restoration works include:
- Full professional repaint in the original Spinnaker Blue Metallic
- New Wood Trim
- New Wood Siding
- New Windshield
- New window wipes & replacement of exterior chrome flexible pieces
- New white wall tires wrapping professionally refinished wheels
- New floor carpeting with custom matched floor mats
- Tan leather portion of seats re-coated
- New headliner

Why buy from a Grand Wagoneer specialist? For us the answer is simple- our entire focus is on Grand Wagoneers and we know these unique vehicles inside and out. When you purchase a Classic Gentleman Wagoneer it has been thoroughly inspected and all necessary work completed by professional mechanics, some with over forty years of Wagaoneer experience. We purchase fine example Jeeps from a variety of sources including other dealers and private parties. We are often told by the seller, “My Jeep is excellent and needs nothing” however, being in this profession, we know to expect and plan for a great deal of sorting.
Remember the average age of these vehicles is thirty years more or less, and even with loving care many mechanical parts have aged and worn accordingly. Purchase a Wagoneer from a source other than a specialist and odds are that you may experience servicing and repair costs that may dampen your joy and enthusiasm for that Wagoneer that you always wanted. You may only own one of these in your lifetime, while we buy, fully sort and sell dozens and dozens per year. That is a lot of practice and when a Classic Gentleman Grand Wagoneer arrives at your home, it is a special occasion. It will be in beautiful condition and ready to drive and enjoy. Yes, our sales are as-is, but as you will see from our detailed service invoices, she has been looked after from nose to tail. Our goal is to see that the joy and enthusiasm of Grand Wagoneer ownership begins immediately with your purchase and that it will be there for years to come.
Be sure to have a look at our website’s recommendation page where you can see first hand the positive experiences of a worldwide assortment of named buyers.
